The injured parties were part of a troubling scene where an SUV struck a school bus transporting students with special needs, though it is currently unclear whether the injured were on the bus or in the SUV, as per ABC7. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
FOX LA states that "there were two adults in the SUV and a bus driver and two children in the school bus." The cause of the crash is currently being investigated.
The Orange County Fire Authority noted, "Among those who were taken to the hospital were the drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash," which was echoed in a statement obtained by NBC Los Angeles. Witnesses reported seeing a Kia crossing double-sided lanes into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with the school bus. Orange Unified School District Superintendent Michael Christensen stated, "We are deeply grateful to the first responders for their quick response and support, and we are working with the California Highway Patrol on their investigation."
