The city's ongoing mission to enhance public safety services marks another step forward with the upcoming groundbreaking for new fire stations. Announced by the City of Forth Worth, these events are open to the public and offer a firsthand look at the future sites of Fire Stations 26 and 37, scheduled for Dec. 17. The first ceremony at Fire Station 26 begins at 9 a.m. at 4921 South Drive West, with the second following at 1 p.m. for Fire Station 37 located at 10600 Alta Vista Road.
Fire Station 26, located within Council District 6, will house a dual-company and battalion headquarters on one story, stretching over 1.9 acres. Designed to accommodate the city's bravest, this station will feature nine bedrooms, three officers' accommodations, offices, and enough space for six additional firefighters, all within an 11,110-square-foot building. The cost for this development is slated at approximately $9.6 million.
Not to be left behind, Fire Station 37 is setting the stage to serve Council District 4 with its one-story, two-company station on about 4.075 acres located attractively at the southeast corner of Alta Vista Road and Golden Triangle Boulevard. The design includes dedicated quarters for eight bedrooms, two officers, and six firefighters, totaling 10,913 square feet. The budget for this project is set to near $9.9 million.
Both facilities promise features beyond the basics: an outdoor covered patio, an adjacent fitness room with a roll-up door, eco-friendly xeriscape landscaping, and a full-station backup power generator. The quality of construction is expected to be top-notch as RPGA Design Group has put forth the blueprints, and Steele & Freeman is to undertake the actual building process. According to the City of Fort Worth, this initiative forms a part of a broader strategy to reliably improve fire services distributed among different districts reliably, optimizing for efficiency and fast response times when emergencies emerge.
