A Galt Christmas tree lot run by local Sea Scouts was targeted by thieves on two separate occasions. The thieves cut through the fence using power tools, stealing about 20 Christmas trees. The losses are estimated between $1,000 and $2,500. Despite the damage, the Galt and Stockton Sea Scouts quickly repaired the fence and resumed their operations, as reported ABC10 and FOX40

The Stockton Sea Scouts' annual tree sale supports their activities, such as boat maintenance and engine repair, while also teaching scouts valuable lessons in commerce and customer service. After a theft, John Manov, a Sea Scouts director, remained determined, saying, "It’s like, steady on course, guys. I hate to see this happen, but it doesn’t change anything. We still have a goal, and we'll get to that goal." Despite the setback, scouts and volunteers quickly repaired the damage, reinforcing gates and fixing the fence with welding skills, as reported by ABC10.

The fundraiser supports Scout activities and helps the youth build skills and teamwork. After some Christmas trees were stolen, the community was urged to buy from trusted sellers to avoid the black market. Manov also said, "Drop them off anywhere around town, and we’ll gladly come pick them up." Despite the thefts, the Sea Scouts are still focused on reaching their fundraising goals and hope the community will support them, as stated by ABC10.
