In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has named Maggie Jaramillo as the new judge of the 458th Judicial District Court in Fort Bend County, with her term beginning January 1 next year. This appointment is set to last until December 31, 2026, unless a successor is elected and takes office before that time.
According to the announcement by the Office of the Governor, Jaramillo, currently an Associate Judge for the 268th Judicial District Court, has a long history in Fort Bend County’s legal community. Her career includes serving as the Judge of the 400th Judicial District Court, an assistant district attorney for Fort Bend County, a private practice attorney, and an assistant county attorney for Starr County. Her commitment to education is evident through her volunteer work with Fort Bend National Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
Education forms a cornerstone of Jaramillo's background, with the press release noting her Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University and a Juris Doctor from the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. The community involvement and diverse legal experience she brings to the bench are expected to benefit the proceedings of the 458th Judicial District Court, greatly.
