On a day focused on both commerce and emergency preparedness, Governor Greg Abbott took center stage in College Station to highlight a significant donation from tool giant Stanley Black & Decker. The donation, revealed to be essential for training and equipping Texas' first responders, aims to strengthen the state's disaster response capabilities.
Abbott, during an event that drew state and local dignitaries, did not shy away from praising the $100,000 contribution of tools and equipment, a gesture set to enhance operations across both state and national lines, Governor Abbott lauded the company, saying "These are the tools that built America, and today we are thankful that they are supplying $100,000 in tools that Chief Kidd and the Texas Division of Emergency Management can utilize in their disaster response situations," according to a press release from the Governor's office.
Joining the Governor were Stanley Black & Decker CEO Don Allan, as well as Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) Chief Nim Kidd, the former expressing the honor his company felt in aligning with Texas for the greater good of emergency preparedness, "We are honored to announce DEWALT will be the Official Tool Provider to TDEM to help support the critical work they do to prepare for, respond to and help communities across the state recover from the impact of emergencies," Allan stated, according to a press release, framing this partnership as a long-term commitment to the safety and resilience of Texans.
The partnership elevates DEWALT as TDEM's Official Tool Provider, signaling more than just a financial or product donation, but a deeper collaboration.
