Governor Greg Abbott has worked to showcase Texas' economic strengths globally throughout 2024. His economic development missions to countries such as India, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan focused on highlighting Texas' business opportunities and forming partnerships to boost its presence in the global market. According to the Office of the Texas Governor release, these missions aimed to attract foreign direct investment and business leaders.

"Texas is the eighth-largest economy in the world, a global leader in energy and trade, and the world’s premier economic destination because of our top-tier business climate," Governor Abbott stated in the same release. He has prioritized attracting more international businesses to Texas in 2025.

Earlier this year, Abbott visited India to connect with tech and energy leaders in Mumbai and New Delhi. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would continue in the future, highlighting the significant foreign direct investment from India to Texas.

In March, Abbott visited the United Kingdom and signed a new Statement of Mutual Cooperation to promote economic growth. He discussed innovation and job creation with then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, emphasizing the potential for continued collaboration between Texas and the United Kingdom.

Abbott later focused on East Asia, opening a State of Texas Taiwan Office in Taipei to attract foreign investment and expand trade. "By working together, we will ensure our people have the freedom and opportunity to thrive in the growing economies of the 21st century," he stated in the Office of the Texas Governor release. He then visited South Korea, where he announced an investment by SeAH Group in Texas, saying, "I look forward to welcoming SeAH group’s new manufacturing facility to Texas and continuing to work with them to bring even more investments and jobs to our state."

According to the Office of the Texas Governor website, Abbott's tour ended in Japan, where he signed a Statement of Mutual Cooperation with Aichi Prefecture and met with government officials. "As Texas and Japan drive the future of innovation, this trade agreement will provide our two peoples with the economic freedom and opportunity to thrive for generations to come," Abbott said.
