Thieves boldly stole multiple high-end vehicles from Comodo Motors in Caledonia Township while the dealership's owner watched helplessly on live surveillance footage. The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. today, led to a high-speed pursuit involving several law enforcement agencies and ended with the apprehension of a 19-year-old Detroit woman, as reported by News Channel 3.
The Kent County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the break-in after the owner saw several suspects on his property, with five vehicles leaving the dealership: a blue Dodge Challenger, a black Chevrolet Corvette, a black Dodge Ram 1500 TRX, a black Dodge Challenger, and a white Jeep, all of which were presumed stolen, according to a report from WoodTV.
According to FOX17, during the chase, deputies used stop sticks to partially disable the blue Challenger, which eventually stopped. However, the driver switched to the white Jeep and evaded deputies, who lost sight of both the Jeep and a black Corvette, which were speeding at over 100 mph.
The multi-county chase involved the Ionia County Sheriff's Office and Portland Police Department, resulting in the arrest of the Detroit woman and the recovery of the black Dodge Ram. The Chevrolet Corvette was also recovered in Livingston County, abandoned after the driver likely lost control on wet pavement.
"We are thankful that no one was injured as a result of the suspects' reckless driving. The safety of our community remains our top priority," deputies said, as obtained by News Channel 3. With the circumstances surrounding the incident continuing to be pieced together, the Kent County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information to come forward and contact 616-632-6125 or through Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
