A stretch of Oregon Route 18, popularly known as Highway 18, was closed for several hours yesterday after an accident occurred north of Dayton. The road, which had been shut down between Highway 99W and the Dayton junction at milepost 52, was reopened later in the afternoon, according to the Statesman Journal.
During the closure, Oregon's Department of Transportation (ODOT) had urged motorists to seek alternative routes. It was suggested to potentially utilize Highway 99W through McMinnville as a bypass to the closure. As fog thickened in the area, concerns for driver safety were heightened, reported by a camera located about a mile from the site, according to KATU News.
