In Hill County, Texas, a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of an unusual theft. On Thursday evening last week, deputies, acting on information from the Laredo Police Department, searched an 18-wheeler suspected in a cargo theft case. They found the truck was carrying over 34,000 stolen avocados, according to KENS 5.

According to Laredo PD, a Texas DPS trooper and a deputy were involved in stopping the truck. Deputy Ty Hardy, who had never encountered such a situation in his career, was part of the team that discovered the stolen avocados. The Hill County Sheriff's Office humorously remarked, "Holy Guacamole! That was some good police work by Deputy Hardy," as reported by South Plains Live.

After verifying the contents of the heisted haul, the involved officers notified the Laredo Police Department. Instructions were given to release the driver but to seize and tow the avocados to a secure location. "This was a bit out of the ordinary, but we're happy to have helped stop this theft and return the avocados to their rightful place," stated by the Hill County Sheriff's Office, as per the South Plains Live. The avocados were then relocated to a refrigerated trailer belonging to the victim company of the cargo theft.
