Travis Kotrys, a Honolulu firefighter, has been arrested and indicted on multiple charges of sexual assault against a minor. The 42-year-old was arrested on November 22 and later indicted by an Oahu grand jury on eight counts, including one count of continuous sexual assault of a minor under 14. Kotrys is currently being held on $500,000 bail at the Oahu Community Correctional Center and is scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday, according to Hawaii News Now.
Court documents reveal that the alleged abuse took place between January 2022 and November 2024, in the child’s bedroom after midnight. Kotrys has been issued a “No Contact” order to prevent communication with the victim. The documents also mention that Kotrys had two guns stored in his bedroom closet, as reported by KITV and Hawaii News Now.
In response to the charges, the Honolulu Fire Department has reassigned Fire Fighter III Travis Kotrys to a position with limited public interaction. The department stated, "The charges against Fire Fighter III Travis Kotrys are deeply troubling. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and conduct." The case is now in the hands of the judiciary, as stated by Hawaii News Now and KITV.
