
Two Party City locations in the Houston area, in Humble and Shenandoah, will stay open despite the company’s plan to close most of its stores after a January bankruptcy filing. Local owner Emily Morgan confirmed that her stores will remain open and unaffected by the closures, according to Click2Houston.
Party City, struggling financially, will close most of its stores after efforts to improve its situation failed. CEO Barry Litwin, who took over four months ago, said, "It’s really important for you to know that we’ve done everything possible that we could to try to avoid this outcome." However, some locally owned Party City franchises in Texas, including in Austin and San Antonio, remain open. One of the store owners said, "We stand on our own, we buy our own merchandise, and we are excited to continue with the party and help people celebrate," as reported by Click2Houston.
Despite Party City's nationwide closures, two stores in Hawaii will stay open. The local franchise owner stated, "Both Hawaii locations will continue to serve the community despite the nationwide closures." These stores, along with some in Texas, are continuing to operate independently while the national company goes through restructuring.
