In a statement on their Facebook page, authorities noted a pattern in the burglaries, highlighting that the perpetrators often target homes abutting open spaces and prefer to enter through the back, sometimes even disabling security cameras to avoid detection.
In response to this uptick in crime, the Irvine Police Department has ramped up their efforts to protect the community. The police department is intensifying its presence by deploying extra officers, setting up undercover stings, and employing surveillance teams. Moreover, the IPD stated, "We are leveraging technology, including drones and cameras," in an effort to stay a step ahead of these criminals.

The police also advised keeping lights on inside homes, potentially using timers as a deterrent, ensuring all windows and doors are locked, and keeping garage doors closed.
