Larry B. Taylor, a 59-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, has been sentenced to 180 months (15 years) in federal prison for his involvement in the Operation Ghost Busted drug case. Taylor pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute fentanyl. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, Jill E. Steinberg, announced the sentence, which also includes three years of supervised release. As is standard in the federal system, there is no possibility of parole, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Taylor had been arrested over 50 times and convicted of 10 felonies. He also violated probation multiple times. He was involved in distributing over three kilograms of fentanyl, which could have caused many deaths in Brunswick, Georgia. After his arrest in January 2023, overdoses in the area dropped. U.S. Attorney Steinberg pointed out the success of Operation Ghost Busted, a large investigation that broke up a drug trafficking network supplying fentanyl, meth, heroin, and alprazolam in Georgia, linked to Mexican cartels, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Operation Ghost Busted led to the conviction of 73 out of 76 defendants, many with long criminal records. The operation uncovered a large drug trafficking network linked to Georgia's prisons and violent gangs like the Ghost Face Gangsters. It was the biggest drug prosecution in the Southern District of Georgia, involving multiple law enforcement agencies and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jennifer J. Kirkland and E. Greg Gilluly Jr., as stated by the  U.S. Attorney's Office.
