Jacksonville residents will encounter a mix of weather conditions over the coming week, starting with areas of dense fog this morning before it clears to partly sunny skies with temperatures reaching a balmy high near 76 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The southeast wind is set to pick up to 17 mph, with potential gusts as high as 26 mph, delivering a breezy accompaniment to the day's warmth.
Tonight's forecast promises mostly cloudy skies, with a thermometical low hovering around 68 degrees and steady southeast winds blowing at around 14 mph, occasionally gusting up to 21 mph. The weekend will continue with a significant chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm tomorrow, as the NWS anticipates an 80% possibility of rain, potentially bringing new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, while thunderstorms could result in higher volumes.
Going into tomorrow night, Jacksonville might see a drop-off in precipitation with only a 30% chance of showers forecasted before 7pm. The skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy as the temperature dips to a cooler 56 degrees. The south wind will calm down and shift west after midnight.
As the new week begins, Monday is looking up, with predictions of sunny skies and a comfortable high near 71. Winds will remain gentle, initially from the west and eventually turning south later in the day. The clear conditions are anticipated to persist into Monday night, when temperatures are expected to drop to around 53 degrees.
Beachgoers should remain vigilant this weekend, as a high rip current risk is in effect through this evening for Northeast Florida Beaches, including Coastal Nassau, Coastal Duval, Coastal St. Johns, and Coastal Flagler. "Dangerous rip currents expected," warns the National Weather Service, advising swimmers to heed caution and recommending swimming near a lifeguard and to follow protocol if caught in a rip current: relax, float, and signal for assistance if you cannot swim to safety.
