The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is actively seeking the public's assistance to help identify a suspect involved in a recent carjacking. According to reports from News4Jax, an Amazon delivery van, filled with packages, was carjacked from West 12th Street earlier this month. The van was found soon after, but the contents—a slew of packages—had vanished.
The theft occurred on December 6, and the search for the individual responsible has continued since. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office described the suspect as a man in his early 20s, distinguished by face tattoos. Authorities have released surveillance photos in hopes that community members might recognize the suspect. "Do you recognize this man?" the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page, seeking to quickly to leverage the power of social media in their efforts to locate the individual.
Local residents are encouraged to contact the authorities with any information that might aid in the investigation. In a statement obtained by First Coast News, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office urged anyone who might have knowledge of the suspect's identity to call 904-630-0500 or email [email protected]. For those wishing to maintain anonymity, a call to Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS may be placed potentially to receive a cash reward for valuable information that leads to an arrest.
The Jacksonville community has been alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect, with the Sheriff's Office emphasizing the importance of public participation in solving the case. "Your #JSO detectives are asking for your help identifying this carjacking suspect," reiterated the social media appeal from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
