
Around 8 p.m. on Monday, several armed individuals entered Buen Provecho, a Mexican restaurant in Kalamazoo County, and robbed the business. As reported by FOX 17, the suspects threatened employees, and one worker was stabbed in the hand. First responders treated the injury at the scene.
The Kalamazoo Township Police Department confirmed an incident on the 600 block of N. Riverview Drive, where the suspects fled before police arrived. During the confrontation, Gustavo Marure, the owner of Buen Provecho, he fought with the attackers to protect the money earned that day, detailed in a statement shared by WOODTV.
Kevin Ussiel Marure-Melchor Polenciewicz, Marure's son, described how his father and mother were working with a teenage employee when two robbers, armed with a knife and a gun, threatened them. "They pulled out a knife and tried to jab him for the cash," Polenciewicz recounted, he described how his father bravely confronted the attackers, resulting in a sliced hand during the incident. "Rain or shine, robbery or not, it's my mom's passion," Polenciewicz told MLive.
