Kirkland residents can improve their firearm safety skills with a free Gun Safety Class on December 18, offered by the Kirkland Police Department. Led by experienced officers, the class will teach safe ways to handle and store firearms, helping prevent accidents and misuse. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance community safety, according to the City of Kirkland.
Councilmember Neal Black emphasized the importance of firearm education, saying, "We believe that education is important to firearm safety." He also noted, "This class is an opportunity for residents to gain practical knowledge that can help protect their loved ones and our community. Together, we can ensure that firearms are stored and handled responsibly, reducing the risk of preventable tragedies." The class will be held at the Kirkland Police Department, inside the Totem Lake Room at 11750 NE 118th Street, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It is open to Kirkland residents 21 and older, with space for only 20 participants. Sign up is available through Eventbrite, as stated by the City of Kirkland.
