
An early Thursday morning shooting on Washington Pike has left one person dead and another critically injured. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Ernest Glenn of Knoxville. A second victim, a 45-year-old man whose identity has not been released, is in critical but stable condition at the UT Medical Center, according to a press release from the Knoxville Police Department.
Details surrounding the incident, which occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Thursday, indicate that the incident was targeted. A car crashed into a fence was discovered by the Knoxville Police Department officers in the 2900 block of Washington Pike, with its unresponsive driver suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving attempts by officers and KFD personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. While they were responding to another call, officers found another gunshot victim at the North Hills Apartment complex.
No suspects have been charged or identified at the time of this report, but detectives are actively pursuing leads. Based on the investigation, though it is still in its early stages, authorities believe the shooting took place in the 2900 block of Washington Pike and the second victim may have fled to North Hills Apartments seeking help. Authorities have not yet provided suspect information and the KPD Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
