Las Vegas Fire and Rescue units were called into action on Thursday evening to combat a significant structure fire in the city's west valley. Flames engulfed a large one-story residence on the 1400 block of Danyelle Court near the intersection of Buffalo Drive and Oakey Boulevard, News 3 LV reports.
Responding just around 8:30 p.m., firefighters encountered a blaze that had made its way into the attic of the home, necessitating a second-alarm call. Even amid the intense fire conditions, crews initially opted for an offensive attack, but the intensifying situation in the attic forced a tactical pivot to a defensive stance, crews reported to 8 News Now.
Substantial progress came later as Las Vegas Fire and Rescue declared the fire knocked down, but they still contended with several hotspots. While the immediate danger had been averted, the long vigilance of the crews remained necessary; they were preparing to stay on scene for a considerable length of time to ensure any remaining embers were fully extinguished.
