
The City of Glendale has officially named Councilmember Lauren Tolmachoff as their new Vice Mayor. Serving until the end of 2025, Tolmachoff will assume the duties of the mayor in his or her absence, stepping into a role of amplified responsibility and municipal guidance, as reported by the city's news release.
During the announcement, Tolmachoff expressed her gratitude and commitment, "I’m honored to be chosen as your new Vice Mayor, and I look forward to continuing to serve alongside Mayor Weiers and the council on behalf of our citizens," as per the city's official statement. She also reflected on her past accomplishments and her ongoing focus on uplifting the lives of Glendale residents – a tenure marked by her election to the council in 2014 and her representation for the Cholla District.
Mayor Jerry Weiers offered praise for Tolmachoff's track record, highlighting her advocacy for the community: "Lauren has proven to be a passionate advocate for Glendale citizens throughout her time on the council," he said. Her ascension to Vice Mayor is seen by many as a continuation of her substantive work which includes roles on a wide range of boards such as Valley Metro RPTA and committees like the National League of Cities' Information Technology and Communications, as stated in the city's annoucement.
Lauren Tolmachoff has deep connections to Glendale, with her family’s roots in the city going back to 1911. She has been a Realtor® since 2004, following a successful career in banking. Her involvement in local organizations, such as serving as past president of the Glendale Rotary Club, highlights her active participation in the community.
