A Laytonsville man has been charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence, following a July crash that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Rockville woman. The Montgomery County Department of Police reported that Isaac Tomas Pellegrino, 29, was driving his blue 2019 Kia Stinger northbound on Goshen Road when the incident happened, colliding with a white 2021 Hyundai Venue driven by Yanique Tyshay Jones.

Investigators from the police's Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) have revealed that, near the intersection of Goshen Road and Rock Elm Way, the fatal collision took place, sending the southbound Hyundai spiraling out of control. Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.19, which is more than twice the legal limit, Pellegrino's vehicle was determined to have reached a top speed of 69 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. According to the Montgomery County Police press release, tragically, Jones was pronounced dead after being extricated from her vehicle and rushed to the hospital.

Following his arrest on Sunday, Pellegrino was later released on bond pending trial. The official announcement of the charges comes as the CRU has concluded their investigation into the circumstances leading to Jones's untimely death.
