
Leah Palmer has officially stepped in as the new director of the Emergency Communication Networks (ECN) division at the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS). Coming from an impactful tenure at Metro Transit, Palmer is renowned for her management of the Transit Rider Investment Program, an initiative that notably enhanced the commuting experience in Minnesota.
During her time at Metro Transit, Palmer was instrumental, in creating a specialized team known as TRIP agents. These agents worked alongside law enforcement to ensure fair compliance and facilitated connections between transit riders and essential resources, all the while enforcing the Metro Transit’s Code of Conduct. Her leadership in this capacity has been lauded for its positive impact on the everyday transit user.
In her new role at the ECN, Palmer is tasked with the formidable responsibility of overseeing Minnesota's 911 system. As the emergency communication backbone of the state, the ECN plays a critical role in ensuring that public safety services are delivered swiftly and effectively. Palmer herself began her career as a public safety communicator in Minneapolis, accumulating over 15 years of experience in public service with a significant focus on public safety. “I am honored to serve as the director of ECN and am deeply committed to advancing its mission,” Palmer said, further promising to fortify the delivery and efficiency of the ECN. With her extensive background and commitment to progress, Palmer is set to spearhead initiatives that will potentially redefine emergency communication networks across the state.
