The City of Lewisville is gearing quickly up to celebrate its centennial in 2025 with a series of history exhibits that promise to whisk residents through a hundred years of local lore and development. According to a report published by the City of Lewisville, it will host "four rotating history exhibits," each offering a unique lens into the past, presented at various locations throughout the city starting January 3 and running the full calendar year.
One exhibit ceremoniously titled "Welcome to Lewisville" details the various modes of transportation that have brought people to the city over its lengthy, 180-year history. This journey through time includes everything from stagecoach routes and railroads to modern highways. The Lewisville Public Library will house this voyage into the city's history. In a similar vein, "Lewisville by the numbers" will use census data and media archives to map out the city's demographical explosion. That exhibit will unfold at Lewisville City Hall.
The narrative thread continues with "Lewisville in War and Peace," an exhibition set to depict the community's wartime experiences and contributions, a testament to the soldiers' sacrifices, and a reflection of peaceful times, using a collection of news articles and photographs. The Vista shopping center will be the backdrop for these stories. Rounding out the quartet is "Lewisville from the Air," an aerial perspective on the city's transformation from a mere dot on historic maps to a robust, evolving urban landscape. This exhibit will stretch its wings at Thrive.
