
A 66-year-old Livonia woman was killed in a head-on collision yesterday afternoon that also left three other individuals injured. The accident occurred near the intersection of Rochester Road and Beach Drive in Oakland Township, where the Oakland County Sheriff's Office says a 19-year-old man from the township crossed the centerline into opposing traffic, striking a Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on, as reported by CBS News Detroit.
The woman, a passenger in the Jeep, was pronounced deceased at the scene; the driver of the Jeep, a 62-year-old Clarkston man, and his wife were transported to a hospital, with the man in stable condition and his wife in critical condition, while the young driver of the Ford Edge was airlifted to a hospital and is also in stable condition, The Detroit News detailed further specifics on the injured parties.
Officials have not indicated the reason for the Ford driver's lane deviation, and the crash is currently under investigation by the sheriff's office Crash Reconstruction Unit, adding there was no immediate indication of alcohol involvement as a contributing factor in this tragic incident as per Detroit Free Press.
