Last night in Long Beach, a series of gunfire incidents alarmed the community, starting with a so-called "hit shooting" at 19th Street and Harbor Avenue where a man, sustaining gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body, was found by police officers responding to the scene at around 6:13 p.m. The Long Beach Fire Department promptly transported the injured party to a hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The police also reacted to another incident at the 1100 block of Hellman Street around 9:34 p.m., where a male suspect, identified as Anthony Marcellous Foster, discharged a firearm into the air—the officers managed to locate the suspect and recover the firearm in question, though no one was harmed as a result of the gunfire, and Foster now faces charges, including negligent discharge of a firearm and brandishing a firearm, with bail set at $35,000, as reported by the LBPD.
Furthermore, a third shooting without casualties was reported after police patrolling the 1200 block of East 4th Street heard gunshots at about 10:24 p.m. and discovered evidence of the shooting, though the suspect had fled prior to their arrival, with the motive still remaining under investigation and no injuries being reported, the LBPD elaborated in their blotter.
