A manhunt is underway in Garner, North Carolina, as local authorities continue their search for 25-year-old Daveaun Whittle. Wanted on kidnapping warrants out of New York, Whittle managed to evade arrest after a vehicular pursuit concluded in a dramatic crash late last night. The incident occurred on Fayetteville Road near U.S. 401, where, according to the WRAL report, the car rolled over but, fortunately, did not result in injuries.
In a failed attempt to apprehend him, officers employed a strike strip, known as a terminator, to disable Whittle's vehicle. Unfortunately, only blowing out one of his tires led to a crash near the Buffaloe Lanes Bowling Alley, as detailed by ABC11. Fleeing on foot, Whittle left the scene before law enforcement could detain him. The vehicle involved has since been seized, and police, considering the suspect dangerous, have acknowledged the possibility that he might be armed.
Efforts to locate Whittle have been extensive. K-9 units have been called to aid officers searching on foot, yet the suspect remains at large. According to the description provided by Count on 2, he is a heavyset 6'1" tall male with dreadlocks, last seen wearing dark pants and a blue jacket. The public has been warned of the potential danger posed by Whittle due to his outstanding kidnapping warrant.
The Rockland County Sheriff's Office in New York, currently coordinating with Garner Police on this ongoing investigation, has remained tight-lipped about further details. "More information will be released at a later time," they conveyed to ABC11. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Whittle's whereabouts to come forward, as the search continues to ensure the safety of the community.
