The suspects, following the shooting, fled north to Nassau County and continued into Folkston, Georgia, where the vehicle believed to be used in the crime, a white Kia sedan, was abandoned – a chase that was detailed by a nearby resident, Richard Lafferty, who told Action News Jax he witnessed police pursuit as he was driving to work, sighting the suspects' car racing upwards of 90 mph. Charlton County Sheriff Robert Phillips emphasized vigilance among the community, "It’s been long enough now so they probably got somewhere and got some help or changed clothes."
Investigators are urging anyone with information to step forward, and JSO detectives are processing the scene for evidence, officials have released that, the vehicle was kept in sight by a JSO helicopter until the suspects abandoned it off President Road.
