A recent law enforcement operation orchestrated by Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Marshal Task Force has once again brought a fugitive to justice while intercepting illegal firearms and a large quantity of drugs. During the action on Tuesday, detectives successfully apprehended 29-year-old Marc Anthony Suarez, who was wanted on gun-related charges emanating from Bristol Superior Court. The operation unfolded at an apartment located at 643 County St., where Suarez was believed to be residing.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, a perimeter was swiftly established. Officers witnessed objects, later identified as narcotics and a firearm, being discarded from Suarez's apartment window. The authorities made their way into the apartment and found Suarez alone. According to a statement by the New Bedford Police Department on Facebook, Suarez was detained without further incident.

Searching the area around the residence, detectives recovered fentanyl, "crack" cocaine, and a loaded Glock 19 handgun combined with 14 rounds of ammunition that Suarez had allegedly thrown out the window. A subsequent search inside the residence yielded even more narcotics, various packaging materials, a digital scale, and $1690 in cash—all of which were seized. In total, Suarez was found to be in possession of over 140 grams of cocaine and over 39 grams of fentanyl.

Records show that Suarez had been previously convicted of firearm possession in 2022 and possession with the intent to distribute a class "A" substance in 2019. He is now facing a list of new charges for possession of a large-capacity firearm and ammunition without a license, trafficking over 100 grams of cocaine, and trafficking over 36 grams of fentanyl. This arrest follows a similar incident from just a week prior when Jesse Soares, 41, was detained with drugs and a firearm in an unrelated but equally significant bust.
