A young life was cut tragically short in a vehicle accident that occurred in southeast Memphis this past Saturday. A six-year-old girl, identified as Celina, was struck and killed while crossing the street in the 4300 block of East Mallory Ave. According to WREG, Memphis police responded to the crash at approximately 5:52 p.m. The girl was taken in critical condition to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital where she later died.

In a statement obtained by FOX13, Anameli, Celina's 13-year-old sister, courageously spoke out regarding the family's shock and desire for answers. "My sister got hit by a car, and it was so sad," Anameli said. The family believes the driver did not stop at the stop sign, though police have not confirmed this detail. Through her translation for their non-English-speaking parents, Anameli expressed a need for justice: "He wants to get justice," she shared on behalf of her father, who is eager to learn more about the driver's fate and whether there were any resulting legal consequences.

The vehicle involved, a 2014 RAM truck, was traveling westbound on East Mallory at the time of the accident. Local Memphis reports that MPD's Special Traffic Investigation Squad (STIS) is conducting a thorough investigation, and the crash report is subject to revision as new details become available. The driver of the truck remained on the scene following the accident.

While the investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been made in connection to the crash. The MPD told the media they have yet to conclude if any charges will be filed definitely. "They want to know what is happening to that guy," Anameli told FOX13, conveying her parents' concerns surrounding the whereabouts and the legal status of the driver involved.
