Memphis Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase Ends Near Mississippi Horse Farm, Narrowly Avoids ChildrenSource: Shelby County Sheriff's Office

A harrowing chase involving a stolen car and near misses with children at a Mississippi horse farm led to the arrest of a Memphis man. According to WREG, 45-year-old Jason Christie led police on a pursuit from Memphis to Mississippi, which culminated in him nearly hitting two young girls at Hunters Edge Stables.

Officers initially tried to stop Christie when reports of a stolen black Nissan Altima matched his vehicle, but he sped away with deputies trailing. FOX13 reported how Christie, careening down a gravel road leading to the stables, narrowly avoided striking one girl who "had to let go of the horse and jump on the fence to get away from the car," as stable owner Gene Cone described.

Christie's reckless flight reportedly brought the stolen vehicle to a stop in a wood line next to a residence on the property, where he fled on foot. Equipped with K-9 units and drones, law enforcement conducted a search that ended when Christie, likely seeking respite from the cold, walked back toward the officers through the stable yard, Action News 5 noted.

Inside the ditched Nissan, deputies discovered a medical bracelet bearing Christie’s name, alongside two notebooks marked similarly, and a machete. Christie, whose driving privileges had been previously suspended, was also wanted on an active warrant for violating probation. The Collierville Fire Department assessed him due to the exposure to the cold, and he was subsequently transported to Regional One Hospital for medical clearance. Post his arrest, Christie now faces multiple charges, including reckless driving, evading arrest, theft of property, as well as two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. His bond is set at $35,000, "according to a WREG report.
