Last Friday, Kavel Kitchens, 18, of Southeast DC, and Dionte Borges, 43, of Clinton, MD, were apprehended. They were linked to unauthorized vehicle use on 16TH Street, NE & Levis Street, NE and the 1600 block of Marion Barry Avenue, SE, respectively. Information received by the Metropolitan Police Department's official release confirms these details.
The following day, Omar Escoffery, 35, from Frederick, MD, and Megan Grimberg, 36, of no fixed address, were taken into custody around the 7200 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. The charges against both individuals related to the same category of offenses, with their last known addresses and names publicly disclosed alongside the alleged offense location.
Three people were arrested on Monday, continuing the recent wave of arrests: Timothy Wade, 61, from Northeast Washington, DC; Darrell Wilson, 68, from Northwest Washington, DC; and Dayvon Baker, 35, who did not have a fixed address. Operating without authorization, the vehicles they were found in were located on the 4900 block of A Street, SE, and the 1800 block of 5TH Street, NW. While mentioning the arrests, on the same date, a juvenile female, merely 17, from Southeast DC was also taken into custody for involvement in a similar offense on the 100 block of 35TH Street, NE.
On Wednesday, two further arrests were made as part of the ongoing pursuit to curb vehicle-related infractions in the district. Indya Cole, 19, from Upper Marlboro, MD, and Jayson Kent, 22, of Capitol Heights, MD, were held following incidents on the 4000 block of South Capitol Street, SW, as per the police release.
The effort to address the spike in unauthorized vehicle use cases culminated on Thursday, with several juvenile males, ranging from 15 to 17 years old, apprehended. The incidents, all recorded under the same case number, took place in the 1200 block of 4TH Street, NW, as listed in the official police statement. The ages and residences of the individuals were also shared, with the respective last known addresses spanning across Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest, DC.
