
The Metropolitan Police Department has announced a series of arrests connected to unauthorized vehicular activities in Washington, DC. According to an official release, several individuals have been apprehended over a span of five days on charges that include Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Theft One (Stolen Auto).
On Saturday, November 23, two men, Jarrell Gayden, 32 of Northeast, DC, and Edward Dawson, 35 of Haymarket, VA, were arrested in separate incidents in the 600 block of T Street, NW, and the 3800 block of 9TH Street, SE, respectively. The following day, two juveniles, a 16-year-old female from Temple Hills, MD, and a 17-year-old male from Southeast, DC, were charged with the same offense in the 2900 block of Nash Place, SE.
As the week progressed, more individuals were nabbed for similar violations. Trevon Thompson, a 20-year-old from Southeast, DC, was taken into custody last Monday. Two more arrests were made last Tuesday: 19-year-old Reginald Weems, with no fixed address, and Antonio Whitaker, 20, from Southeast, DC, both in the 4500 block of Alabama Avenue, SE.
The police's crackdown continued through Wednesday, with the arrest of Delron Davis, 32 of Southeast, DC, and Biruk Woldetsadik, 39 of Alexandria, VA. These individuals were collared at East Capitol Street & Southern Avenue, NE. While the Metropolitan Police Department remains vigilant in their efforts, to address the uptick in vehicle-related crimes, citizens have been advised to exercise increased awareness and to report suspicious activities.
