
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C. yesterday. The incident, resulting in the death of one male adult, happened roughly at 12:31 a.m. on the 2700 block of Fairlawn Avenue, Southeast.
According to the official MPD release, responding Sixth District officers discovered the victim with a gunshot wound. He was found unconscious and not breathing. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene where they subsequently pronounced the man dead, having found no signs consistent with life.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Lamar Edmonds, a man of no fixed address. As of now, details surrounding the circumstances that led quickly to his death have not been publicly disclosed. The investigation remains ongoing as the MPD seeks to uncover what transpired in the moments leading up to the shooting.
The police are actively seeking any information pertinent to this case and have announced a reward of up to $25,000 for tips that to lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this crime.
