
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a fatal stabbing incident that took place in Northeast D.C. on early Tuesday morning.
According to the official MPD release, a victim, later identified as 24-year-old Joziah Thurman of Northeast, D.C., entered the Sixth District police station with stab wounds around 1:05 a.m. Police officers provided immediate assistance, and summoned DC Fire and EMS to, the scene where all attempts at life-saving measures ultimately failed, and Thurman was declared deceased.
The stabbing was later determined through police investigation to have occurred within a residence on the 800 block of 49th Street, Northeast. The circumstances leading to the incident and the motive behind the stabbing are still under scrutiny as detectives piece together the events of that night.
Law enforcement has called upon the community for assistance in the investigation. "Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411," the MPD noted.The Department is also offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual, or individuals, responsible for this act classified as a violent crime in the District of Columbia.
