The Metropolitan Police Department is reaching out to the public to help identify a suspect involved in a recent illegal firearm discharge in the Southeast quadrant of the city. The incident took place in the wee hours of November 24, 2024, when gunshots disrupted the peace of the 400 block of 8th Street, Southeast.
Officers from the First District arrived on scene at around 2:04 A.M. after receiving reports of the shooting. While the officers did not find any injured parties, they did come upon signs of gunfire. The details of the incident were shared in a press release issued by the MPD.
The department is not only asking for assistance in identifying the suspect but also in garnering information about the incident. The MPD’s approach in dealing with such cases includes a financial incentive for the community's cooperation. A reward of up to $10,000 stands, for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
