The Metropolitan Police Department is on the lookout for individuals connected to a series of burglaries across Southeast Washington and is seeking the public's assistance in this matter. According to their request, there's an ongoing search to identify two suspects and link them to a vehicle thought to be used during the criminal activities in the district.
In the early hours of Friday, December 27, around 5:47 a.m., officers from the First District rushed to the 100 block of M Street, Southeast after a reported burglary, swiftly followed by more distressing news, more burglaries were reported in the 1200 block of 1st Street, and then another in the 700 block of L Street, Southeast, keeping the officers in a relentless pursuit of evidence and testimony to apprehend those responsible. A statement released by the MPD detailed that the suspects were able to gain unauthorized access to the properties, executed thefts, and then made off from the scenes.
Community involvement is crucial in incidents like these; the MPD is urging anyone with information regarding the identity of these suspects or the vehicle depicted in connection with the burglaries to reach out. The police emphasize that individuals with knowledge of the events should refrain from direct engagement and instead contact officials at (202) 727-9099 or send a tip through the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. "The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia," the MPD announcement noted.
