A tragic incident late on Christmas Eve resulted in the death of a 49-year-old Midland man after being struck by a vehicle. According to ABC12, Midland Police Department officers responded to the scene on Bay City Road near Burgess Street around 11:30 p.m. to find the victim suffering from serious injuries.
The man, whose identity was not released, was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland by ambulance where he later died, suffering from the consequences of his injuries. The driver, a 28-year-old Freeland man, had been driving westbound on Bay City Road when he hit the pedestrian, reportedly walking on the roadway at the time, according to WNEM.
While the tragedy unfolds, the Midland Police Department is continuing its investigation into the crash. Once completed, the reports will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor's Office to determine if criminal charges will be filed. MidMichiganNow reported that while the incident continues to be under investigation, the driver involved has been identified.
