In a recent update provided by the Long Beach Police Department, Dana D. Petitt, the 57-year-old woman reported as an at-risk missing person, has been found safe. A notice on the department's official website confirmed Petitt was located by officers in Torrance on Saturday, December 21, and was unharmed.
The situation initially caused concern after Petitt was last seen on December 21, around midnight, leaving her residence on the 2200 block of Pine Avenue. Authorities stressed her status as at risk due to medical conditions and the fact that she had previously walked away on her own accord. Efforts to find her were intensified to quickly ensure her safety. At the time of her disappearance, her phone was off and she was believed to potentially be carrying an undisclosed amount of cash.
Detailed descriptions of Petitt were widely circulated to assist the public in her identification. She was described as a Black female, 5'4" in height, and weighing around 200 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Her outfit consisted of dark glasses, a grey headband, a white/beige cardigan, a dark shirt, black sweatpants, and beige Crocs shoes, as per the Long Beach Police Department. It was noted that she had no scars, marks, or tattoos that could aid in her identification.
The police department had reached out to the community for help, encouraging anyone with information to come forward. They had provided several contact avenues, including the LBPD Missing Persons Detail and Police Dispatch. Additionally, they offered the option for individuals to submit tips anonymously through "LA Crime Stoppers."
