
Missouri City has officially received the Film Friendly Texas Certification, as announced by Governor Greg Abbott. This recognition places the city alongside over 175 communities poised to offer unique locales for film production, an initiative that aims to boost job creation and on-site spending in Texas.
According to a release by the Governor's Office, Governor Abbott praised the city's addition to the program, "Congratulations to Missouri City on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition." The certification is part of a strategy to engage local businesses and workforce with the film industry, potentially spurring economic development through media production. The Texas Film Commission within the Governor's Economic Development & Tourism Office, has been instrumental in cultivating this landscape that's attracted over $2.5 billion in local spending and more than 189,000 jobs to the state from 2007 to 2024.
Senator Joan Huffman hailed the milestone for the city's commitment to the arts and economic progression, saying, "This certification reflects the city's dynamic community and its commitment to fostering the arts and economic development in Fort Bend County. What a great day this is for the Show Me City," according to a press release. Missouri City's Mayor Robin J.
