The Office of Administration in Missouri recently revealed that state employees have shown incredible support for local charities, surpassing a significant donation milestone during the 2024 Missouri State Employee Charitable Campaign (MSECC). In an announcement detailed by the Office of Administration, a collective sum of $767,157 was pledged to 505 charities across the state. This year's contribution pushes the aggregate donations over four decades above $36 million, signifying a profound commitment from state employees to their communities.
State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick, in his role as the 2024 MSECC Chairman, commended the state employees on their effort. "I want to thank our state employees for their incredible generosity and commitment to making a difference in our local communities," Fitzpatrick proudly stated, acknowledging the sense of public service that evidently runs deep within the workforce, as reported by the Office of Administration. According to Commissioner Ken Zellers, speaking about the considerable, this initiative is a testament to the state's long-standing tradition of philanthropy.
Several state departments stood out for their contributions in this year's campaign. The Department of Corrections led the pack, raising the highest sum of over $107K, while the Department of Revenue experienced a notable increase in pledged donations—117% higher than the previous year, achieving a 44% participation rate among its members. The campaign also saw the Department of Agriculture reach a milestone of its own, securing donations from 60% of its team members, the highest rate recorded in its history of participating in MSECC, as per details shared in the news release of the Office of Administration.
The motivation behind the MSECC, which is organized annually by the Office of Administration, is to facilitate a streamlined process for state employees and retirees wishing to support charitable organizations via payroll deductions or one-time gifts. In the span of its existence, the enduring success of the campaign has reflected the altruistic spirit inherent within the state's workforce. It is noteworthy that in 18 out of the 40 years, donations have topped $1 million, showcasing a commendable pattern of generosity by the public servants of Missouri. As observed by the Office of Administration, this initiative continues to burnish Missouri's reputation as a state where individuals earnestly invest in the welfare of others.
