The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is preparing to roll out training courses for consultants with its OpenRoads Designer software, an essential tool for road design and surveying. Consultants working on or poised to be assigned a MoDOT project can partake in the training free of charge. An official announcement on MoDOT's website indicates that the Road-2 course is scheduled for February 24-28, 2025, at the St Louis TMC, and April 14-18, 2025, at the KC District Office. The Survey course will be held January 27-30, 2025, in the Central Office-Design CADD Classroom. Each class is limited to 20 participants, served on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Interested firms are encouraged to reach out to the respective contact emails provided for each session – [email protected] for the St Louis course, [email protected] for the Kansas City training, and [email protected] for the Jefferson City Survey class. The courses, which were announced on MoDOT's website, are designed to enhance user skills in advanced features such as Advanced Terrain Modeling and Intersection Design for the OpenRoads Designer Road 2 class, and Importing Survey Data and Working with LiDAR Data for the Survey class.
From intricate ramp design to specialized ditch modeling, the OpenRoads Designer Road-2 program covers a multitude of complex concepts. Seeing as the training begins abruptly at 9:00 am on the first day, extending until 3:30 pm, subsequent days will kick off at 8:00 am, concluding on Friday depending on the pace of the class. The Survey class mirrors this structure, but it concludes on a Thursday. Allowing a lunch break from 45 minutes to an hour on their own time, attendees must bring a foundational understanding of MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer to the sessions.
