
A tragic family dispute in Moreno Valley has led to the loss of a life and the arrest of a relative, with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announcing the grim details on Friday. The deputies responded to a call at 11:28 a.m. last Thursday, at a mobile home park on Perris Boulevard after an assault was reported. Upon arrival, they found Veronica De La Luz, a 52-year-old resident, unresponsive and with traumatic injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
Authorities have since detained and arrested 28-year-old Giovanni Farias, also from Moreno Valley, in connection with the murder of De La Luz, Farias was located in an adjacent mobile home in the same park. He was taken into custody concerning the incident, where it's been reported that the violent altercation was sparked by internal family tensions. In an official news release shared by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the Central Homicide Unit is now leading the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
The suspect has subsequently been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Sergeant Jarred Bishop, the Reporting Supervisor, hinted that additional information may be scarce due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation, nonetheless, they are urging anyone who might have insights into this tragic situation to step forward and reach out to Master Investigator T.
