A man was stabbed on Ocean Boulevard, while a separate incident reported the sound of gunshots on East 5th Street, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. Meanwhile, a proactive response to a gun call resulted in two firearms being taken off the streets.
At about 6:40 p.m., police were summoned to the 3900 block of Ocean Boulevard, where they discovered a male victim with stab wounds to his upper body. The Long Beach Fire Department quickly intervened to transport the man to a local hospital, with the wounds described as non-life-threatening. A suspect, characterized as a male adult, reportedly initiated to quickly flee the scene post-stabbing, eluding immediate capture by the authorities. As per the Long Beach Police Department, the investigation into this violent encounter remains ongoing.
As night continued to unfold, the sound of gunshots prompted another police response, this time at around 8:24 p.m. in the 1500 block of East 5th Street. Officers arrived to find evidence that a shooting had indeed taken place, though fortunately, there were no injuries to report. The night's events also underscored law enforcement's ongoing battle against illegal firearms. Responding to a call concerning an individual armed with a gun, officers pursued a vehicle which led to a stop and subsequent search.
