Nearly 44,000 wireless tree light controllers have been recalled due to fire risks. These decorative devices, designed to simplify yuletide illumination, are now a cause for concern after reports surfaced suggesting they could overheat and potentially ignite fires. According to FOX 26 Houston, the recall includes two distinct models of the controllers, sold at popular shopping destinations including Target, Walmart, and Cracker Barrel.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has logged 10 incidents where units have overheated. This includes one report of a fire, but fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far. These accessories, retailing between $25 and $40 from July through November, are now being flagged as potential hazards. As stated by WPTV, the CPSC is urging customers to discontinue use and return the devices to their place of purchase for a full refund.

As detailed by FOX26 report, the first controller, sold at Target under the brand Wondershop, has a square box design with green, red, and white balls and is labeled "Tree Lighting Switch." The second type, sold at Walmart and Cracker Barrel, resembles a peppermint candy with a candy cane lever and is labeled "Christmas Light Controller." Both controllers, made by Mr. Christmas, come with a white, wireless receiver that plugs into an outlet to control holiday lights. Consumers can identify the recalled controllers by looking for one of three model numbers: 39611, 39612, or 39630, which are printed on the units along with the "Mr. Christmas" branding on the wireless receiver.
