Foggy conditions are set to envelop New Orleans over the coming days, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a detailed forecast for the area. New Orleans residents woke up to a fog or misty atmosphere this morning, with a visibility down to two miles reported at 5:53 a.m. CST, according to the NWS.
The forecast today predicts patchy fog lifting before 10 a.m., paving the way for mostly cloudy skies that will gradually clear up. The high is anticipated to hover near 73 degrees with light and variable winds. However, the calm weather is expected to make a turnaround tonight as dense fog is likely to return after 4 a.m. This will bring down visibility significantly, and travelers should prepare to navigate these low-visibility conditions.
As per the NWS update, Wednesday morning will see a continuation of dense fog before 9 a.m., which should give way to partly sunny skies and a high near 71 degrees. The calm is expected to settle back into the region towards evening as winds turn northwesterly.
The outlook for Thursday and beyond is brighter and clearer. Mostly sunny skies with a high near 63 degrees are forecasted, with northerly winds at a gentle 5 mph. Thursday night's conditions will remain mostly clear, leading into a sunny Friday with highs peaking around 61 and north winds continuing to maintain a gentle flow. The clear and sun-filled weather is projected to remain through the weekend and into the early week, with the next bout of significant change comes to the temperature, which might dip slightly but remains within comfortable ranges.
