The Oregon Commission for Women is accepting nominations for the 40th anniversary Women of Achievement Awards. They are looking to honor women who have worked to improve equity for women and girls in Oregon, especially in areas like economics, social issues, law, politics, and health, according to the Oregon Advocacy Commissions Office.
The Oregon Commission for Women, created in 1985, has honored 113 women for their contributions to improving the lives of women and girls in Oregon. The commission’s mission is to "promote the full recognition of the contributions of women," focusing on women from diverse backgrounds, including differences in race, ethnicity, gender identity, occupation, income, and geography. Each year, the Oregon Commission for Women, presents three awards: the Emerging Leader Award for women with less than five years in their careers, the Professional Achievement Award for women with 5-15 years of impactful work or service, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for women with over 15 years of service, as reported by the Oregon Advocacy Commissions Office.
The Oregon Commission for Women is now accepting nominations for the Women of Achievement Awards. "Each award demonstrates our state's appreciation for their endeavors and recognizes their accomplishments across Oregon." This is a chance to honor women who have made a positive impact in their communities. Nominations can be submitted through the Oregon Commission for Women’s website, with the deadline approaching soon. The awards ceremony will celebrate this year’s winners and reflect on 40 years of progress for women in Oregon, as stated by the Oregon Advocacy Commissions Office.
