
The Norman community mourns the loss of Master Police Officer Jenny Bryan who died after facing cancer with formidable courage. Officer Bryan passed away earlier today following her lengthy battle with the illness. The Norman Police Department conveyed the sad news, expressing a deep sense of loss within the force and the community she served with dedication and valor, according to the City of Norman.
Norman Police Chief Kevin Foster described Officer Bryan as an individual who confronted her illness with exceptional bravery. In a statement to the City of Norman official website, Foster said, "The loss of Jenny is profound." He lauded her commitment to her role, reflecting on her strength and spirit, which have left an indelible impression on the Norman Police Department.
An alumna of the 54th Norman Police Academy, Officer Bryan was a member of the force for eight years. Her roles included significant positions in Patrol and Training Divisions, where she served not only as an officer but also as a remarkable fitness and firearms instructor.
In remembrance of her steadfast service and devotion to public duty, the Norman Police Department has positioned Officer Bryan’s police vehicle in front of their headquarters at 112 W. Daws Street. The department welcomes the public to visit this temporary memorial to her life and service, inviting them to leave items in honor of Jenny’s legacy, as detailed by the City of Norman. Arrangements for memorial services will be announced later as they are determined.
