With a strategic shovel-in-dirt moment, Osceola County officials rolled out the welcome mat for a new era of eco-conscious leisure and tech-infused education with the groundbreaking of Westside Technology Park. The park, touted as a hybrid haven for recreation and learning, nestles within the scrubland of Four Corners, a project that might cause locals to look twice at the intersection of Westside Boulevard and Funie Steed Road.
The area, part of the Lake Wales Ridge, boasts sands trodden by time and an ancient dance floor for the evolution of unique flora and fauna. With the introduction of Westside Technology Park, the county is hell-bent on adhering to Low Impact Design practices with the clear intent to tread lightly but never to trample on the habitat’s dance card. According to Osceola County, amenities are made from environmental mindfulness: solar-powered benches, QR-coded trail markers, and a generous dose of educational signage to enhance visitors’ understanding of the local wildlife and plants.
The Westside Tech Park isn’t just about solar benches and trails. Commissioner Peggy Choudhry said it will encourage kids to use their devices to learn about nature. Plans also include a parking lot, restrooms, pavilions, a playground, and a dog park.
Osceola County’s Westside Technology Park blends environmental preservation with development, creating a space where serenity and suburban growth coexist. This 40-acre park aims to prove that both can flourish side by side.
