The holiday rush is a familiar scene for many, as over 400,000 Texans are expected to soar the skies during this festive season. A recent lull at airports was noted on Christmas Day, a stark contrast to the bustling crowds only days prior. According to a report from Fox San Antonio, the San Antonio airport was brimming just a few days ago, though passengers found terminals surprisingly serene as the holiday itself unfolded.
The calm, however, appears to be the eye of the seasonal storm. The same report indicated that while the halls were quieter, braced for the coming waves of travelers, the long-term parking told a different story - already packed to capacity. In a narrative familiar to those who've navigated the holiday migrations, flights, against the odds, have been running without a hitch, leaving travelers like a couple from Richmond, Virginia to express their relief and satisfaction. In a statement obtained by News 4 San Antonio, Norm and Nomi recounted with no setbacks faced during their journey, "Our daughter-in-law's father is in his early 90s, and we never know when would be the last time we'll see him. So that motivated us."
This quiet period at the airport won’t last long. Authorities predict that foot traffic will increase as the New Year approaches. In the coming days, the calm terminals will become busy again with travelers leaving for and returning from their holiday trips. Anyone traveling soon should be prepared for this, expecting crowded terminals and the usual travel disruptions that come with a surge in activity, as per Fox San Antonio.
