
On Tuesday night, a road rage incident occurred on S. Mineral Springs Road near NC 98. After being honked at for driving slowly, the occupants of a dark blue Chevy Malibu fired several shots at the vehicle behind them, grazing the passenger, as the Durham County Sheriff's Office reported.
Despite the danger, the victims continued to their destination, where EMS assessed the passenger's minor injury. The incident, which occurred just after 9:00 p.m., led to a response from the Durham County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division and Forensics unit, who found multiple shell casings. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
The driver of the attacked car told authorities that the Malibu was driving slowly, which led to the honk and the gunfire. The Durham County Sheriff's Office reported that when the Malibu turned off S. Mineral Springs Rd., someone inside fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle.
The forensics team found shell casings that support the victim's account of the road rage incident. The Durham County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.
